The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria held an event at the Nike Art Gallery on August 10, 2022, to confer iconic Nigerian artist Nike Okundaye as the goodwill ambassador for hosting the 2030 Busan Expo.

Nike Okundaye is one of Nigeria’s most well-known batik and Adire artist. She is a champion of supporting African artists and women and has held exhibitions internationally. She designed the Nigerian Pavillion at the Expo 2000 in Hannover Germany.
In June 2021, the Republic of Korea submitted a letter of candidature to the Bureau International des expositions(BIE)to organize World Expo 2030 in Busan. The Republic of Korea’s candidature is based on the theme “Transforming Our World, Navigating towards a Better Future”, and if successful, the Expo would take place in Busan’s North Port district between 1 May and 31 October 2030 in close partnership with the Korean Embassy. Nike will deepen and widen the support base for the Busan Expo to her gallery visitors as well as extend her network of friends and patrons.
